Description

A Cozy, Espresso-Based Drink Infused with Homemade Apple Cider Syrup and Warm Pie Spices—Just Like Your Favorite Starbucks Fall Treat

Ingredients

For the Apple Cider Syrup:

1 cup apple cider

1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1/2 tsp apple pie spice

2 tsp cornstarch

For the Apple Crisp Macchiato:

2 tbsp apple cider syrup

1/4 cup espresso or strong coffee (about 2 shots)

1 cup 2% milk

Caramel syrup for drizzle (optional)

Sprinkle of apple pie spice (for garnish)

Instructions

Make the Apple Cider Syrup:
In a small saucepan, combine apple cider, brown sugar, and butter. Heat over medium-low until the butter melts and the mixture is fully combined.
In a separate bowl, mix the apple pie spice and cornstarch, then whisk it into the apple cider mixture.
Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

Prepare the Macchiato:
Add 2 tbsp of apple cider syrup to a mug.
Heat milk to 150°F, reserving 1/4 cup for frothing.
Pour 3/4 cup of the steamed milk into the mug, then add espresso or strong coffee.
Froth the reserved 1/4 cup milk and spoon foam over the top.
Drizzle with caramel syrup and garnish with apple pie spice. Serve immediately.
