Description

Crescent Roll Apple Dumplings are a quick and comforting dessert featuring flaky crescent roll dough wrapped around spiced apples, baked in a sweet buttery glaze.

Ingredients

1 package (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough

4 tablespoons butter, melted

2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for filling)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

1/2 cup granulated sugar (for glaze)

1/4 cup water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine sliced apples with 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat.
  3. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into triangles. Place apple slices at the wide end of each triangle and roll up.
  4. Arrange wrapped dumplings in the prepared baking dish, leaving space between each.
  5. In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter, and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Pour glaze evenly over the dumplings using a spoon for even distribution.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • Add chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans to the apple filling for extra crunch.
  • Use pears or peaches for a different fruit variation.
  • Replace glaze with caramel sauce for an indulgent twist.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, microwave for 20-30 seconds or bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
