Description
Crescent Roll Apple Dumplings are a quick and comforting dessert featuring flaky crescent roll dough wrapped around spiced apples, baked in a sweet buttery glaze.
Ingredients
1 package (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
4 tablespoons butter, melted
2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/4 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
1/2 cup granulated sugar (for glaze)
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.
- In a medium bowl, combine sliced apples with 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat.
- Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into triangles. Place apple slices at the wide end of each triangle and roll up.
- Arrange wrapped dumplings in the prepared baking dish, leaving space between each.
- In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter, and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour glaze evenly over the dumplings using a spoon for even distribution.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- Add chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans to the apple filling for extra crunch.
- Use pears or peaches for a different fruit variation.
- Replace glaze with caramel sauce for an indulgent twist.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, microwave for 20-30 seconds or bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
