Description

Ingredients

Tofu

  • 12 oz block extra firm tofu (350 g)

Coating & Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Press the tofu: Sandwich the block of extra firm tofu between paper towels and place two plates on top. Apply pressure by placing a heavy object, such as a 28 oz can, on the top plate. Let it press for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) and allow it to heat up while you prepare the tofu.
  3. Cut the tofu: Remove the pressed tofu and cut it into cubes about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch in size for even cooking.
  4. Coat the tofu with oil and cornstarch: Toss the tofu cubes in the avocado oil to lightly coat them, then toss them in cornstarch which will help to create a crispy outer layer.
  5. Season the tofu: Add paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt to the tofu. Toss well to ensure all cubes are evenly coated with the spices.
  6. Cook in the air fryer: Place the seasoned tofu cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 13 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes to promote even browning.
  7. Check for doneness: The tofu should be firm on the outside while remaining soft on the inside. Keep in mind it will harden slightly as it cools.
  8. Serve immediately: Enjoy your crispy air fryer tofu fresh for the best texture and flavor.
