Description

The Dirty Snowman is a decadent adult hot chocolate drink featuring a scoop of vanilla ice cream, rich chocolate syrup, and a blend of creamy liqueurs. Perfect for warming up on a cold day or as a delightful after-dinner treat, it combines the classic comfort of hot chocolate with a spirited twist and garnished with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles for a festive presentation.

Ingredients

For the Drink

  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate sprinkles
  • 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream (1 large scoop)
  • 1/4 cup Kahlua (or RumChata or Bailey’s)
  • 1 tablespoon dark creme de cacao liqueur
  • 1 cup hot chocolate

For Garnish

  • Whipped cream (homemade or store-bought)
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Chocolate sprinkles
  • Additional chocolate syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass Rim: Place the chocolate syrup on a small plate. Turn your glass mug upside down and dip the rim into the syrup to coat it evenly.
  2. Coat with Sprinkles: Immediately dip the syrup-coated rim into a shallow tray of chocolate sprinkles to create a decorative and tasty border around the mug.
  3. Add Ice Cream: Place one large scoop (about 1/2 cup) of vanilla ice cream into the prepared mug.
  4. Add Liqueurs: Pour 1/4 cup of Kahlua and 1 tablespoon of dark creme de cacao liqueur over the ice cream in the mug.
  5. Pour Hot Chocolate: Carefully pour 1 cup of hot chocolate over the ice cream and liqueurs, allowing the ice cream to soften and flavors to meld.
  6. Garnish: Top the drink generously with whipped cream, then sprinkle mini chocolate chips and chocolate sprinkles on top. Drizzle additional chocolate syrup if desired.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately with a spoon and/or straw to enjoy the rich layers and melting ice cream.

Notes

  • Alcohol alternatives such as RumChata or Bailey’s can be used interchangeably based on preference.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the liqueurs and consider adding flavored syrups.
  • Homemade whipped cream enhances the flavor but store-bought is a convenient substitute.
  • Use freshly made hot chocolate or high-quality store-bought for best results.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the contrast between hot and cold elements.
