Description

These crispy Fried Bananas are caramelized to perfection, offering a sweet and indulgent treat. Deep-fried with a light batter, they make a delicious dessert or snack. Serve with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or chocolate sauce for extra flavor!

Ingredients

For the Fried Bananas:

4 American bananas (overripe)

Oil, for deep frying

For the Frying Batter:

1 egg white

½ cup all-purpose flour (sifted)

¼ cup cornstarch

½ teaspoon baking powder

½ cup ice-cold water

1 tablespoon oil

Instructions

Prepare the Bananas:
Cut the bananas into 1-inch (2.5 cm) pieces and set them aside.

Make the Frying Batter:
In a large bowl, combine the egg white, flour, cornstarch, baking powder, ice-cold water, and oil. Stir well until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.

Heat the Oil:
In a small pot, heat 2-3 inches (5-7 cm) of oil over high heat. The oil is ready when a swirl of smoke rises from the surface.

Fry the Bananas:
Gently dip each piece of banana into the batter, ensuring it’s coated, and then carefully drop it into the hot oil. Deep-fry the bananas in batches, turning them occasionally until both sides are golden brown and crispy.

Drain the Fried Bananas:
Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried bananas from the oil. Drain them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Serve:
Dust the fried bananas with powdered sugar and serve immediately. Optionally, serve with maple syrup or chocolate sauce for added sweetness.

Notes

Serve: These fried bananas are perfect on their own or with a dipping sauce like chocolate syrup or maple syrup. They make a great dessert or snack.

Storage: Best served fresh, but if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container for up to 1 day. Reheat them in a hot pan to restore some crispiness.
