Description
Mini Caprese skewers with balsamic glaze are a fresh and elegant appetizer featuring creamy mozzarella, juicy cherry tomatoes, and fragrant basil, finished with a tangy-sweet balsamic glaze.
Ingredients
12 fresh mozzarella balls (small, bite-sized)
12 cherry tomatoes (ripe and vibrant)
12 fresh basil leaves
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup high-quality balsamic vinegar
Sea salt to taste
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Wash and thoroughly dry the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves. Drain mozzarella balls.
- Prepare 12 wooden or metal skewers.
- Thread onto each skewer one basil leaf, one mozzarella ball, and one cherry tomato. Repeat the pattern if the skewer length allows.
- Gently press the ingredients together to ensure they stay in place.
- Drizzle with olive oil and season with sea salt and black pepper.
- To make the balsamic glaze, simmer the balsamic vinegar in a small saucepan over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, until thickened.
- Let the glaze cool slightly, then drizzle over the skewers.
- Serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving. Add the glaze just before serving.
Notes
- Use high-quality balsamic vinegar for a richer glaze.
- Make the glaze in advance and reheat gently before use.
- Skewers can be assembled ahead and refrigerated without glaze.
- Substitute mozzarella with vegan cheese for a plant-based option.
