Description
This Grilled Cheese recipe elevates the classic sandwich with a flavorful Italian butter spread, melted mozzarella, pepperoni, and pizza sauce, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal in just 15 minutes.
Ingredients
Butter Mixture
- 1/4 cup butter (softened)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons finely grated parmesan cheese
Sandwich Components
- 8 slices bread
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 6-8 shredded mozzarella
- 2 oz pepperoni slices
Instructions
- Combine: In a small bowl, soften the butter by stirring it until smooth. Mix in the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and parmesan cheese until fully combined, creating a flavorful butter spread.
- Spread Butter: Spread the prepared butter mixture evenly on one side of each bread slice. Place the bread butter side down on a cutting board to prepare for assembly.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Spread pizza sauce evenly on the unbuttered side of each bread slice. Add shredded mozzarella on top of the sauce. Distribute pepperoni slices on 4 of the bread slices. Carefully fold the slices without pepperoni over the ones with pepperoni, forming 4 sandwiches with the buttered sides on the outside.
- Cook: Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat. Place as many sandwiches as fit comfortably (about 3 in a 12-inch skillet) with the buttered side down. Cook until the bottom is golden brown, approximately 4 minutes. Carefully flip each sandwich and cook the other side until golden and the cheese is melted, using a lid on the skillet if needed to help melt the cheese thoroughly.
- Serve: Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and serve warm for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Use softened butter for easier mixing and spreading.
- Adjust the amount of pepperoni or omit for a vegetarian version.
- Cooking on medium-low heat prevents burning while allowing the cheese to melt properly.
- Covering the pan during cooking helps melt the cheese faster.
- Try using different types of bread like sourdough or whole wheat for variation.
