Description
A delicate and soothing Sakura Latte that combines the subtle floral notes of cherry blossoms with creamy milk and a touch of sweetness. Perfect for a cozy afternoon treat or a unique coffee-shop style beverage at home.
Ingredients
Milk Base
- 1 cup (240 ml / 8 fl oz) milk (dairy or dairy-free)
- 2 tbsp Sakura powder, plus more for garnish
Sweetener
- 1 tbsp honey (can substitute with maple syrup)
Optional Topping
- 1/4 cup (60 ml / 2 fl oz) heavy cream
Instructions
- Warm milk: Pour the milk into a small saucepan and add the Sakura powder. Cook over medium-high heat on the stovetop until the milk is warm and begins to steam, about 5 to 7 minutes. Whisk constantly to dissolve the Sakura powder completely. Taste and add an additional tablespoon of Sakura powder if you prefer a stronger flavor.
- Add sweetener: Remove the milk from heat and stir in the honey or your chosen sweetener. Start with 1 tablespoon and add more if desired for additional sweetness.
- Whip cream: Place the heavy cream in a small, cold bowl and use a milk frother or small whisk to whip it until frothy and slightly foamy, but not stiff peaks. This will add a light, airy texture to the latte.
- Assemble: Pour the warm Sakura milk into a cup or mug. Using a large spoon, gently float the foamy whipped cream on top. Garnish with extra dried Sakura powder for visual appeal and enhanced floral aroma.
- Serve: Serve your Sakura Latte immediately while warm, enjoying the comforting blend of cherry blossom flavor and creamy sweetness.
Notes
- You can use plant-based milk such as almond, oat, or soy to make this drink vegan-friendly (omit heavy cream or replace with coconut cream).
- Adjust the sweetness level to your preference using honey, maple syrup, or another sweetener.
- Sakura powder intensity varies by brand; add more gradually to avoid overpowering the delicate flavor.
- Whipping the cream lightly helps create a luxurious mouthfeel but avoid over-whipping to keep it soft and airy.
- This drink is best enjoyed fresh to appreciate its aromatic qualities.
