Description

This delicious baked tilapia recipe features tender fillets seasoned with garlic, lemon, and a touch of red pepper flakes, all baked to perfection. It’s a quick and healthy dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a simple yet elegant meal.

Ingredients

Tilapia and Seasoning

  • 4 (6-oz.) tilapia fillets
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Butter Mixture

  • 5 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • Juice and zest from 1/2 lemon

Garnish

  • 1 lemon, sliced into rounds
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Season: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Season the tilapia fillets generously with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, then place them in a small baking dish in a single layer.
  2. Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter with finely chopped garlic, crushed red pepper flakes, the juice, and zest of half a lemon. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  3. Pour and Arrange: Pour the butter mixture evenly over the seasoned tilapia fillets. Then, place lemon slices on top of and around the fish to infuse it with a bright citrus flavor during baking.
  4. Bake: Put the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the tilapia until the fish is fork-tender and opaque in the center, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the fish from the oven, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, and serve immediately, enjoying the flavorful and tender baked tilapia.

Notes

  • Use fresh tilapia fillets for the best flavor and texture.

  • Adjust red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level.
