Description
A quick and flavorful Garlic Shrimp recipe featuring succulent jumbo shrimp sautéed with garlic, butter, white wine, and a creamy seasoned sauce finished with melted white cheddar cheese. Perfect for a delicious dinner served over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
Shrimp and Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 pounds jumbo shrimp, peeled, deveined, and tails removed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons white wine
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded (or grated Parmesan cheese)
Garnish
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
Instructions
- Heat and Sear Shrimp: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium high heat for about 2 minutes until sizzling hot. Add the shrimp and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are fully cooked through. Season with salt and black pepper. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Sauté Garlic and Deglaze: In the same skillet, add butter and minced garlic. Sauté for about one minute until fragrant. Then add white wine and stir well to combine, cooking for another minute to let the alcohol cook off and flavors meld.
- Prepare Cream Sauce: Add the heavy cream, Italian seasoning, and shredded white cheddar cheese to the skillet. Stir well and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
- Combine Shrimp and Sauce: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Toss thoroughly to coat the shrimp evenly with the creamy garlic sauce.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the shrimp. Serve immediately with your choice of pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
Notes
- For best flavor, use fresh jumbo shrimp that is peeled and deveined.
- White wine can be substituted with dry vermouth or chicken broth for a non-alcoholic version.
- Adjust the thickness of the sauce by simmering longer or adding a small splash of cream if it becomes too thick.
- This recipe pairs wonderfully with linguine or fettuccine pasta.
- Feel free to use Parmesan cheese instead of white cheddar for a sharper flavor.
